Es gibt einen Restaurantführer für Melbourne (keine Ahnung ob es den auch für andere Städte wie Sydney, oder so gibt), genannt “Cheap Eats”. Jährlich wird er aktualisiert.
Grundprinzip: Restaurants und Bars werden rezensiert nach den Kriterien, Qualität des Essens, Preis und Service.
Ich mag das Buch. Denn die Autoren testen selbst die Restaurants und wissen wovon sie reden. Und ich bin ein Mensch der von “Gelüsten” lebt. Soll heißen, ich habe an einem Tag lust auf japanisches Essen, am nächsten Tag auf griechisches…usw. Ich kann nicht planen, dass ich am Freitag in 3 Wochen Lust auf malayisches Essen habe.
Ein Blick in dieses Buch und ich weiß zumidest wo ich in meiner Nähe solche Restaurants finde. Dann entscheide ich nach der Bewertung, welche Lokalität an diesem Tag mein Host sein darf.
So kam es, dass ich am Freitag (ja nach meinem letzten Blogeintrag) mitten im CBD (Stadtmitte) landete, um den Gesamtsieger des Cheap Eats 2007 einen Besuch abzustatten. Der “Horoki Casual Dining Bar”.
Das Restaurant lag versteckt in kleinen Hinterhofstraßen, die ich nun nach 3 Jahren zum ersten Mal in meinem Leben sah. Unglaublich was man hier immer wieder Neues entdecken kann. Ich wusste noch nicht einmal, dass dort überhaupt Restaurants und Bars sind.
Es war unglaublich wie klein das Restaurant war. Insgesamt 32 Sitzplätze (ich hab gezählt), dafür irre gemütlich und mit viel Geschmack eingerichtet. Ich saß an der Bar und hatte so auch besten Überblick darüber, wie die Köche hantierten und wie die Cocktails gemacht wurden. Schnell kam ich auch mit den Leuten, die neben mir saßen ins Gespräch. Also alles sehr nett.
Ein Blick auf die Karte verriert mir, dass ich unbedingt heißen Sake trinken musste und dass die Gerichte echt billig waren. Der Sake kam, mein Asahi (Bier) hatte man zum Glück vergessen und nachdem ich den ganzen Tag kaum was gegessen hatte schlug der Sake dann auch mächtig zu, bevor auch nur ein Gericht vor mir stand.
Das Essen war extrem lecker, aber für jemand, der wie ich einen mörder Hunger hatte waren die Gerichte (wie z.b. Tuna Carpaccio) gerade mal für einen hohlen Zahn. Soll heißen, es war zu wenig. Also einfach das nächste Gericht bestellen (was im Übrigen jeder dort so machte).
Der Abend verging, der Sake schmeckte immer besser, das Asahi kam auch irgendwann, gefolgt von den nächsten Gerichten. Und nach viel Gelächter kam letztendlich auch die Rechnung . ..
Wow!!!! Ich sag euch, das war das bislang teuerste “Cheap Eats” das ich hatte und auch das teuerste “Expensive Eats” das ich jemals hatte.
Es war definitiv sein Geld wert, und eigentlich ist es dort auch echt nicht teuer, aber man sollte vielleicht jedem sagen, dass man nicht dort hingeht, wenn man richtig Hunger hat!!! 
Das alles hielt mich aber nicht davon ab noch einen Absacker in meiner Lieblingskneipe zu trinken. Die mit dem Schild vom letzten Blogeintrag und die mit den netten Bedienungen. *grins* Das Auge trinkt ja bekanntlich mit!!! Und so sagte ich natürlich sofort ja, als man mir schwarzen Sambucca empfohl. Ein Verhängnis, wie sich herausstellte. Denn in Verbindung mit den Unmengen Sake, den Asahi und dem Wodka Cranberry, verwandelten sich der Sambucca zu einem/meinem “Freitagskiller”. Ich musste nach hause, denn ich fühlte mich plötzlich sehr schwach auf den Beinen.
War aber alles in allem ein schöner Abend…
