Es dürfte ja nun hinreichend bekannt sein, dass ich dem virtuellen Spiel Second Life verfallen bin. (Der eine oder andere dürfte es an den Blogeinträgen vielleicht erkannt haben 
)
Second Life ist bei weitem nicht mehr nur ein virtuelles Spiel. Es hat sich in einer unglaublichen Geschwindigkeit zum Informationsmedium gewandelt.
Parteien, Botschaften, Regierungen und Organisationen nutzen inzwischen Second Life als Mittel zur Kommunikation. Ja sogar zu Protestzwecken wurde SL schon verwendet. Und auch die Wirtschaftswelt hat SL für sich entdeckt. Es werden Firmen gegründet und über SL virtuelle Waren verkauft und sogar Waren verkauft, die dann als reale Produkte in der realen Welt vertrieben werden. Oftmals wird SL sogar als “neuer Markt” von Firmen entdeckt, in dem die klassischen Anwendungsgebiete des Marketing Mix ebenso funktionieren, wie in der realen Welt.
Klingt verrückt? Nein, es ist nur wieder ein weiterer Schritt unserer Gesellschaft die Technik für sich zu nutzen. Vor 15 Jahren wäre dies noch unvorstellbar gewesen.
Nicht verwunderlich also, dass Universitäten auch auf diesen Zug aufspringen und via E-Learning Fernstudiengänge und sogar Masterstudiengänge anbieten, deren Vorlesungen in Second Life stattfinden.
Um ehrlich zu sein, ich finde es eine gelungene Idee. Und wie deren Umsetzung in SL aussieht, werde ich demnächst einmal testen indem ich als Gasthörer eine dieser Vorlesungen besuchen werde.
Wer weiß, vielleicht mach ich ja doch noch auf meine alten Tage meinen Master
