Seit ich fertig bin mit dem Studium, musste ich mich in Deutschland nie wirklich um Jobs bewerben.
Man rief mich an, schrieb mir über Xing, oder traf sich mit mir zum Essen und bot mir Jobs an. Ein Luxusleben wie ich nun feststellen muss.
Im Gegensatz zu Deutschland, habe ich hier in Australien noch kein richtiges Netzwerk. Es ist ein wenig wie zu Beginn, als ich nach Hamburg kam und nach und nach erst alle kennenlernte.
Dies bedeutet aber auch, dass ich um einen Job zu bekommen, hier ein wenig klassischer agieren muss. Und einen Job hätte ich hier mittlerweile schon ganz gerne. Freelancer sein ist gut und schön, aber so lerne ich nicht wirklich Leute kennen. Der Hauptgrund ist jedoch… ich kann nicht wirklich an den freitäglichen After Work Drinks teilnehmen. Und das ist hier so etwas wie Tradition und wird sehr ernst genommen. Who am I to withstand a tradition!?
Im Grunde bedeutet dies, dass ich zum ersten Mal seit, ich weiß gar nicht mehr wann, einen CV und Cover Letter verfassen musste.
Dazu musste ich erst einmal einige australische Freunde befragen, worauf ich so achten muss. Und meine Güte, diese Sorte Cover Letter würde ich in Deutschland sofort in den Müll werfen, wenn man mir einen solchen vorsetzen würde. Alles ein wenig over the top.
Bislang habe ich drei Bewerbungen raus. Daraus folgte ein Bewerbungsgespräch (ohne Ergebnis, ich nehme an sie wollen mich nicht), ein Interview morgen und bei einer steht noch Feedback aus. Zu mehr konnte ich mich dann doch noch nicht durchringen.
Ja ich bin etwas picky bei meiner Jobsuche. Ich möchte einen Job bei einem Unternehmen oder einer Agentur, wo ich mich auch wohlfühlen würde. Darf alles nicht zu spießig sein. Gerne Start-up.
Weiteres (und mit das wichtigste) Kriterium ist die Lage. Nord Melbourne oder CBD sind bevorzugt, wegen der Möglichkeiten an After Work Drinks. Man erkennt schon ganz klar meine Prioritäten, nicht wahr. Ja und ich kann auch ein wenig picky sein, denn ich verdiene ja durchaus mein Geld. Ist ja nicht so, dass ich am Hungertuch nage. Aber Kollegen und AWDs wären schon ganz nett für eine Weile.
Schaun wir doch mal, wie es so läuft und was mein Marktwert hier so ist. Daumen drücken, dass ich bald auch freitags nach Feierabend unter der Partycrowd bin.
