Gestern war es soweit, der Tag des Melbourne Marathon.
Meine Startnummer & Medaille
Gegen kurz nach 7 Uhr stand ich auf, machte mich fertig, packte meine Sachen und lief zur Straßenbahn, um mich rechtzeitig zum Start meines 10k zu begeben.
Während ich auf die Tram wartete liefen bereits hunderte von Läufer an mir vorbei, denn ein Teil des Halbmarathons, sowie des Marathons führte durch die Straße in der ich wohne. Man muss dazu sagen, der Halbe startete gegen 7 Uhr und der Marathon erst gegen 7:30 Uhr.
In der Stadt angekommen, merkte ich trotz der frühen Uhrzeit bereits wie warm es schon war. Die Vorhersage schätze Temperaturen bis zu 30 Grad für diesen Tag. Uff.
Ich ging also Richtung Stadion und war umgeben von Hunderten und Hunderten von Gleichgesinnten. Von weitem hörte man bereits Musik vom Stadion kommen. Aufregend sag ich euch!!!
Nachdem ich dann alles organisatorische erledigt hatte, meinen Kleidersack abgegeben hatte, suchte ich mir meinen Weg zum Start. Dort versammelten sich bereits über 5000 Läufer zum Start des 5.5 km Laufs. Laute Musik, Stimmengewirr, ein Meer aus Menschen… ach schön.
Und da merkte ich, dass ich nicht nur meine Kopfhörer für meinen iPod vergessen hatte, sondern auch mein Handy mit dem ich Bilder und Videos während des Laufs machen wollte. Hmpf. Soviel zu Fudge und Organisation.
Dann kam der Startschuss und die 5er Läufer und Walker setzten sich in Bewegung. Ich setzte mich erst einmal gemütlich ins Gras und schaute zu. Schließlich war mein Start ja erst eine halbe Stunde später.
Sehr lustig war auch, kaum das der letzte 5er durch das Start-Tor lief, auch schon der erste 5er Läufer das Ziel erreichte. Daran sieht man mal, wie viele Teilnehmer das Event hatte.
Und dann durften wir 10er uns versammeln. Ich hörte etwas von ca. 5000 Teilnehmern und war nicht wirklich überrascht. Von meinem Platz aus, sah ich weder den Start, noch wie weit hinter mir noch Leute standen. Und als zu den Klängen von AC/DCs Hells Bells der Startschuss ertönte war ich wirklich begeistert und voller Vorfreude.
Ich habe hier schon an einigen Läufen teilgenommen, doch keiner war so groß wie dieser hier. Während meines Laufs sah ich Tausende von Menschen vor mir, ein unbeschreibliches Gefühl. Am Straßenrand riefen uns die Zuschauer begeistert zu und klatschten. Und wie immer bei diesen Läufen geben alle tierisch Gas am Anfang. Bedenkt man, dass es von Minute zu Minute wärmer wurde, ist es kein Wunder, dass viele nach kurzer Zeit schlapp machten.
Bei mir lief es ganz gut. Ich fand schnell mein Tempo und blieb diesem auch treu.
Negativ war nur die Tatsache, dass den Veranstaltern das Wasser ausging und die Drinkstationen so klein waren. Man musste sich anstellen(!!!!) um Wasser zu bekommen. Unglaublich! Durch die Hitze allerdings, brauchte man das Wasser, was sollte man sonst tun. Dadurch gingen wertvolle Minuten verloren.
Ja und dann kam auch schon der Zieleinlauf! Ein letzter kleiner Bogen um das MCG, Melbournes größtes Stadion (100.000 Zuschauer fasst es) und dann ging es mitten hinein in den hallow ground, wie die Melbourner sagen.
Boah ich sag euch, das alleine war die ganze Mühe wert. Ein Wahnsinns Anblick von unten aus so ein riesiges Stadion zu sehen und dort seine Runde drehen zu dürfen. Die Sonne brannte zwar, aber alle und wirklich alle hatten bei dieser letzten Runde ein extrem fettes Grinsen auf dem Gesicht.
Cool war es!!!

Tja und ich sagte ja bereits, dass es sehr heiß war….Aber es kam gegen Mittag noch starker Wind dazu…Gegenwind! Ich kann euch gar nicht sagen, wie viele Marathonis ich auf meinem Rückweg sah, die kotzend am Straßenrand standen oder einfach völlig fertig aussahen. Sie taten mir leid, denn die Bedingungen waren echt hart. Mein Respekt allen, die es bis zum Ziel schafften. Das war gestern keine leichte Aufgabe.
