Es kommt der Tag im Leben eines jeden WordPress Nutzers, der seinen Blog selbst hostet, da kann und will man die Aufforderung zu einem Update nicht mehr ignorieren. Diese scheinbar immer größere Aufforderung am oberen Monitorrand, rutscht mehr und mehr in das eigene Blickfeld und auch ein intensives wegsehen verhindert nicht, dass im Dashboard (Tellerrand) stets neue Meldungen zu Updates veröffentlicht werden.
Nun, long story short… Ich konnte heute nicht mehr umhin und habe einen meiner Blogs auf die superduper “Jetzt sind-aber-ganz-sicher-alle-Sicherheitslücken-behoben-und-dir-wird-nichts-mehr-passieren” Version upgedatet. Ich wusste im Vorfeld schon, dass sich die Benutzerobefläche im Adminbereich stark verändert hatte. Und das wohl einiges an anderer Stelle zu finden sei. Ja ich hielt die Änderungen sogar für sinnvoll.
Ich wagte mich also an ein Update heran. Ich persönlich traue mich dabei ja nie richtig auf den Monitor zu schauen, aus Angst es könnte dabei etwas schief gehen. (Was mir ganz zu Beginn meiner WP Zeit auch mal passierte) Ich bin auch eher ein Mensch, der anderen driiiiiiiingend zu Backups und Sicherheitskopien, etc rät, aber selbst meist zu faul ist, das beim eigenen Blog zu machen. Eine Schande, nicht wahr!?
Auch heute habe ich nur ein klägliches Backup vorgenommen und dann ging es auch schon mitten rein in die Datenbank!
Während mein kleiner FTP Client (Programm das man braucht, um Dateien auf einen Server zu laden) eine Datei nach der nächsten auf die Datenbank übertrug, kniff ich die Augen zusammen und blinzelte nur hin und wieder auf den Monitor. Tolle Idee, wenn ihr wichtige Daten transferiert! Frei nach dem Motto, Augen zu und durch! ;-D *Liebe Kinder und WP-Neulinge, macht das lieber nicht nach, wenn ihr an eurem Blog hängt!!!*
Und dann kam der Moment, wo ich …/wp-admin/upgrade.php in die Adresszeile des Internetbrowsers eingab. Ein großer Moment! *Für alle nicht WPler: Das ist der Moment, wo man sieht ob alles funktionierte. Also DER Moment!!!*
Und ja, es ging alles gut! *Schweiß von der Stirn wisch*
Doch dann kam mein allererster Blick auf das neue WP. Ich mache es kurz: Es sieht hässlich aus! Es ist hellblau und orange und überhaupt hat man mich meiner gewohnten Umgebung beraubt. Beim Update stand nirgends ein Warnhinweis, dass man gleichzeitig einem Umzug zustimmt. Ich will meine Mauer wieder!!!
Nein im Ernst, ich erschrak tierisch, als ich entdeckte, dass alle meine Entwürfe scheinbar verschwunden waren, bis ich sie an anderer Stelle wieder entdeckte. Und auch die Plugins waren für mich erst nach wenigen Minuten sichtbar.
Ich habe gehört/gelesen, das Dashboard sei per CSS anpassbar. Und genau diesem Projekt werde ich mich demnächst widmen. Ich will meine alte Wohnung wieder. Momentan fühle ich mich eher, als wohnte ich in einem kleinen hässlichen Hotelzimmer mit Klo überm Flur.
Hat von euch schon jemand die CSS im Dashboard angepasst? Wenn ja schreibt mir doch mal. Vielleicht könnt ihr mir ja etwas Arbeit sparen. ;-D
Aber eines sag ich euch, das ist und bleibt erst einmal der einzige Blog, den ich auf die neue Version umgestellt habe. Mich verwirren solche Neuerungen zu sehr. Sicher kann ich nun heute Nacht in meinem neuen Bett nicht schlafen. Bestimmt ist die Matratze zu hart, ich habe da so etwas im Gefühl…
So und nun gehe ich mal schauen, ob das Zimmermädchen wenigstens ein Betthupferl für mich auf dem Kopfkissen gelassen hat!
