Es regnet in Strömen und scheint gar nicht aufhören zu wollen. In der Wohnung sind es gefühlte – 8 Grad und meine Zehen spüre ich, trotz dicker Norwegersocken, nicht mehr.
Draußen sind es ungefähr 6 Grad, und es gewitterte vorhin aus allen Kanonenrohren. Jeder der ein Gewitter am Meer einmal miterlebt hat, weiss welche Höllenängste ich gerade ausstehen musste. Und dann kam…. man glaubt es kaum… HAGEL!!! Unfassbar!

Wer diese Sätze liest wird unweigerlich denken, ich lebe im kältesten Land der Welt, oder der Post ist versehentlich zeitlich im Archiv verrutscht. Aber niemand, NIEMAND wird mir glauben, dass ich gerade in Down Under an meinem Laptop sitze. Das Land, von dem man glaubt es sei ewig Sonnenschein und immer 40 Grad am Tag. Pah! Das dachte ich auch einmal!
Ok, der Fairness halber muss man sagen, dass ich am südlichsten Ende von AUS wohne – in Melbourne und es dort immer ein gutes Stück kälter ist, als im Rest des Landes. Selbst im Sommer ist das so. Wobei man sich dann dennoch über 38 Grad und mehr erfreuen kann (mehr oder weniger). Deswegen sind die Wohnungen hier meistens recht luftig konstruiert. Sprich, es zieht in allen Ecken und man fühlt wie der Wind an den Füßen weht. Isolierung – ein Fremdwort!
Und doch sieht man trotz der Kälte draußen teilweise Leute Flip Flops, oder Ballarina Flats (ohne Strümpfe) tragen. Oben dick verpackt und unten fast barfuß. Am Wochende ein ähnliches Spiel. Man geht weg und alle australischen Mädels tragen Sandalen und dünne Kleider, meist rückenfrei, oder ähnliches. Keine Jacken, keine Nylons, nichts!!! Ich verstehe es nicht. Es ist mir unbegreiflich! Und deswegen habe ich neulich einen Selbsttest gestartet.
Ich zog mich warm an – Strickkleid, Leggins, Mütze, Schal – nur die Füße waren einfach nur mit Ballerinas bekleidet (keine Socken!!!).
Und dann ging ich zum Bäcker und in den Supermarkt. Insgesamt dauerte meine Mission vielleicht 30 min, doch als ich wieder zu hause war hatte ich das Gefühl Eisklumpen statt Füße zu haben. So viel zu diesem Versuch…
Doch als ich neulich beim Live Earth Konzert war, entdeckte ich des Rätsels Lösung. In der Reihe vor mir *ja ich gestehe, ich hatte einen Sitzplatz 
* saß eine Familie mit zwei kleinen Kids. Vielleicht 4 und 9 J. Und als die Sonne weg war, war es nun wahrlich ziemlich kühl. *Es war ein Open Air* Doch weder Mutter, noch Vater dachten daran ihren Kindern Strümpfe anzuziehen.
Es wird sogar noch besser!! Der Junge hatte sogar kurze Hosen an!!! Und genau da machte es bei mir Klick! Australier weigern sich einfach anzuerkennen, dass es in ihrem Land auch einmal kalt werden kann. Und aus dem Grund werden Kinder schon ganz früh kälteresistent gemacht. Das erklärt auch weshalb es in den meisten Wohnungen keine Heizung gibt!
Simple Lösung!!! Wenn man das den Eskimos erzählen würde, müssten die Ärmsten auch nicht immer in diesen hässlichen Felljacken und Stiefeln rumlaufen! Aber vielleicht liest ja einer der Eskimos diesen Bericht… *grins*
Und jetzt da ich den Post fertig habe, scheint draußen auch wieder die Sonne und die Vögel quietschen munter. Verrücktes Melbourne!!!
