Was fällt euch ein, wenn ihr an Deutschland denkt?
Steuerprobleme, teurer Euro, Arbeit, kein richtiger Sommer 2007, Straßenfeste, Sommerfeste, … So etwas in der Art nehme ich an.
Was fällt aber anderen Ländern zum Thema Deutschland ein?
Ganz einfach: Kuckucks-Uhren, Schloss Neuschwanstein, Oktoberfest, München, Würstchen, Schwarzwälder-Kirsch-Torte, Brezeln, Bier, Schuhplattler…
Ihr glaubt es nicht? Hier ist ein Beispiel eines deutschen Restaurants in Melbourne.
Doch darauf wollte ich nicht hinaus. Vielmehr auf ein Event, das morgen hier stattfindet. Nämlich das German Fest!
Seht selbst, was das Programm des morgigen Tages zu bieten hat! 
- Traditional German foods, such as black forest cake, pretzels, bratwurst sausage – and, of course, beer
- Performances from music and dance groups including the Victorian Accordion Orchestra, Templer Choir, the German Lutheran St John’s Choir, DJ sakamoiz, the Accordion Accents Ensemble, Schuhplattler, Carnivals Dancers Tivoli and the Billanook Primary School Choir
- Children’s activities including finger-puppet-making, fairytale story colouring-in, make your own German cityscape and Schultueten (traditional gift for children starting school)
- Opportunities to learn some German language
- Hans Hahnemann, the roving organ grinder
- An appearance by Schnappi the Crocodile
- Contemporary photographic exhibition, Far Away So Close
- Talks and presentations on the history of German migration to Victoria, covering topics such as Westgarthtown (known today as Thomastown), the Australian-German Welfare Society and migration since 1980
- Community information and displays, including a display on ship timbers
- Poetry readings in English and German
- The one-day festival will also launch an exhibition of contemporary photographs by Che Chapman and Claudia Terstappen, Far Away So Close, organised in collaboration with the Goethe-Institut. The exhibition features portraits of Germans living in Australia and of Australians living in Germany.
Ich hatte schon zugesagt, zu diesem Fest zu gehen, noch bevor ich überhaupt wusste, was geboten wird. Also gibt es nun kein Zurück mehr. Ich werde mir also ein Stückchen Schwarzwälder-Kirsch einverleiben und euch vielleicht noch ein kleines Video drehen, oder zumindest ein paar Bilder machen. Ich bin ja echt gespannt, was für Leute man dort so trifft!!!
Für heute muss ich nun allerdings in die Gänge kommen, da ich in 3 Stunden mit einer Freundin *keine Deutsche, sondern Brasilianerin ;-)* verabredet bin. Es ist ja schließlich Fashion Week und wir wollen uns noch ein paar Shows ansehen.
