Zur Zeit sind heftige Bushfire im Bundesstaat Victoria, in dem Melbourne liegt, zu Gange. Die Medien berichten, es seien die schlimmsten Bushfire, die es in Victoria je gab. Die Australier sind normaler Weise an Meldungen über Feuerbrände gewöhnt. Ist es doch jedes Jahr so, wenn der Sommer beginnt, beginnen auch die Brände.
Doch dieses Mal scheint es wirklich schlimm zu sein. Denn selbst hier in Melbourne bemerkt man unweigerlich die Feuer, wenn man nur schon auf den Balkon oder die Straße tritt. Die Luft riecht nach Rauch. Eine Art Rauchnebel bedeckt die Stadt und so kommt es zu bizarren Feststellungen. Schaut man die Straße hinunter, sieht man ab einer gewissen Entfernung nichts mehr, denn man blickt nur noch in eine Art weißer Nebel. Und die Augen zwicken permanent.
Es sind hier zur Zeit 37° Grad, was die Wohnung zu einem Ofen werden lässt. Doch man will die Fenster auch nicht aufstellen, weil dann der Rauchgeruch herein kommt. Mal abgesehen davon, dass es draußen auch nicht kälter ist und ein Lüftungsvorgang sinnlos wäre.

Zum Vergleich:
Auf dem linken Bild hier sieht man die Skyline der Stadt, wie man sie normaler Weise sieht. Und auf dem rechten Bild, wie sie zur Zeit vom Rauchnebel verdeckt ist. Beide Bilder wurden vom selben Standort aus aufgenommen.
Ich hatte von den Feuern gehört dachte aber nicht das sie so nah an der Stadt sind seit ihr denn in Gefahr oder ist das alles noch normal für diese Verhältnisse?
@ ela: Die Feuer sind auch nicht nah an der Stadt dran. Da muss man schon ein gutes Stück fahren bis man dort erst mal hin kommt. Und damit meine ich so etwas 100km. Um so erstaunlicher, dass man es bis hierhin merkt. Daran erkennt man, dass es sich wirklich um eine ernsthafte Situation handelt. Die Melbourner brauchen sich da allerdings keine Gedanken zu machen.
Das muss wirklich ernst sein wenn der Rauch sich über so eine weite Strecke ausbreitet! Hier in Spanien sind wir ja auch alle Jahre wieder von Waldbränden umgeben, aber an die muss man schon sehr nahe rankommen um den Rauch überhaupt erstmal zu bemerken.
Der Flughafen war kurzeitig sogar gesperrt, kam in den Nachrichten. Ich habe gestern zufällig eine Sendung über Australien gesehen. Der Eukalyptus Baum braucht Feuer um sich zu vermehren. Die Samen platzen dann und los gehts. Wenn Feuer vorbei, kommen neue Triebe über die sich der Koala dann her macht. Kein Feuer, keine Eukalyptus, keine Koalas. Der frisst ja nur das, und die Koalababys essen die den Eukalyptuskot von der Mama um sich an die ätherischen Öle zu gewöhnen. Fand ich sehr interessant den Bericht
@ schneegespenst: Ich glaube das sieht an hier ein wenig anders.
Es sind einige Häuser und Ortschaften von den feuern betroffen und langsam breiten sich die Feuer im Nationalpark aus. Viel Tiere, gerade auch die Koalas können sich nicht aus den Feuern retten und verbrennen darin. Man versucht gerade Gelder aufzutreiben um großflächig Tiere zu evakuieren. Zudem geht den Feuerwehrleuten das Wasser ein wenig aus. (Es herrscht eh schon Wassermangel und es wurden Wasserrestriktionen verhängt).
Aber interessant was du da schreibst, wusste ich auch nicht. Weiß nur dass Koalas ein verschlafenes und verfressenes Pack ist *lach* Die schlafen bis zu 21 Stunden am Tag.
@azahar: dies ist auch das erste Mal, dass ich es so erlebe. Liegt aber auch am Nordwind der letzten Tage.
Die schlafen soviel, weil es so wenig zu essen gibt. Wer sich wenig bewegt verbraucht auch wenig.

Derzeit ist es ja echt eine Ausnahmesituation und kein normaler Buschbrand mehr. Hoffe es kommen nicht zu viele Menschen und Tiere zu Schaden.
